Why Map Ecotopes?
Ecotope mapping stratifies landscapes into ecologically distinct components useful for the measurement and mapping of landscape structure, function and change.

Applications of ecotope mapping include:

  1. Mapping and measurement of landscape change.
  2. Comparison of the ecological state of different landscapes.
  3. Stratification of landscapes for environmental sampling.
  4. Stratification of landscapes into units for land management interviews.
  5. Integration of landscape, environment, and management data for ecological measurements.
