Anthropogenic Biomes of the World
Sparse Trees

The Sparse Trees anthrome is one of the more literal
names because these regions are simply scattered groupings of trees
interspersed with bare ground and low growing ground cover.
This anthrome is made up mostly of the tundra in the far northern
reaches of the world, but does include the edges of deserts and
smaller less contiguous regions where little vegetation can grow.
Ground covering is primarily lichen, mosses, and small shrubby and
herbaceous plants. The median temperature sits below the
freezing point and no human life is sustained .

2% of cells in each anthrome based on
the Euclidean distance across the means of variables used for anthrome classification. |
